World Sport Chicago Scholarship
World Sport Chicago (WSC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young Chicagoans become involved and stay involved in Olympic and Paralympic sports. WSC recognizes that in an urban environment, it is not always easy for students to become involved in sports, especially those with busy academic and extracurricular schedules. To reward Chicago student-athletes who have taken on this challenge and have succeeded on the playing field and in the classroom, the World Sport Chicago Scholarship program was created to help Chicago student-athletes prepare for and succeed in college. In January 2012, WSC will welcome the third class of WSC Scholars; 50 student-athletes who best demonstrate a commitment to athletics, academics and the Olympic values will receive Kaplan ACT tutoring, Chicago Scholars mentoring and will be invited to interview for one of ten renewable college scholarships worth up to $5,000 annually ($20,000 total), supported by WSC and Chicago donors.
