Naperville Country Club

Sponsored by Navistar

The 10th Annual Swing for Scholars golf tournament was held on Monday, August 11. Over 100 prominent Chicago business and community leaders enjoyed a beautiful day on the newly renovated Naperville Country Club golf course and celebrated Swing for Scholars 10th Anniversary.  It was the most successful golf outing in the history of Scholarship Chicago!

Scholarship Chicago would like to recognize and thank Navistar, Platinum Sponsor, whose support is integral to the success of Swing for Scholars. We are also grateful to our sponsor, Turner Construction, for their generous scholarship donation offered during the dinner reception. We were honored to be invited to participate and be recognized at the Turner golf outing held in September, and we are pleased to welcome Rick Blair, Manager of Business Development for Turner Construction, to the Scholarship Chicago Board of Directors. The success of Swing for Scholars is also due to the generosity of many others: TCF Bank, Northern Trust, Banco Popular, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Chicago Equity Partners, Reyes Holdings, Wayne W. Haack & Co., Baxter International, Crowe Chizek, Ernst & Young, GCG Financial, AthletiCo, Exelon, National City Bank, and Studley, Inc. Our thanks to all these sponsors for making a difference in the lives of Chicago's college-bound youth.

We extend a special "thank you" to Manny Sanchez and Pat Pulido-Sanchez for their extraordinary effort in making this event a success.  Their work and dedication to Swing for Scholars these past 10 years demonstrates their passionate and tireless commitment to Chicago's young people.  A special 10th Anniversary video tribute honoring Manny's continuing commitment and contribution to Scholarship Chicago and the Chicago community was a highlight of the Swing for Scholars evening program.

Scholarship Chicago Scholar and University of Notre Dame senior, Sandra Garcia, made her second appearance at a Swing for Scholars golf event, returning for this 10th Anniversary to share her moving story of how Scholarship Chicago has supported her in pursuit of her dreams, how it's made a difference in her life and to offer her gratitude to Manny for helping make that possible.  Many other Scholarship Chicago Scholars were an important part of the event as they shared the day with our guests and supporters as volunteers - working at registration, selling raffle tickets and mulligans on the golf course and assisting at the live auction. It was an opportunity for our attendees to get to know better the promising youth they're investing in.

Thank you to all the Swing for Scholars sponsors and supporters and to Manny and Pat for all they do! We're looking forward to the 11th Annual Swing for Scholars on August 10, 2009!
