50 colleges and universities on October 27
Chicago, IL - October 27, 2009 - Chicago Scholars is devoted to serving academically ambitious, high-need students by helping to eliminate barriers to collegiate success through mentoring, programs and financial support.
Their third annual On Site Admissions Forum will bring together 250 students from 86 Chicago public and parochial high schools and admission directors from 50 colleges and universities including University of Illinois, University of Chicago, Boston College, Carleton College, Northwestern, Amherst, Middlebury, George Washington University and University of Washington.
Students, many of whom will be the first in their family to attend college, will leave the forum with a college acceptance in hand. Over $1 million in financial aid is expected to be awarded on site and more than 1200 college interviews will be conducted at the event.
This year's forum will be held at the UIC Forum on Tuesday, October 27 from 1:30 until 9pm.
Karen G. Foley, the President of Chicago Scholars says, "This event is proof that Chicago is home to hundreds of talented, academically ambitious students from every neighborhood. While the front page news is often grim, these students tell a very different story of achievement and of a community that supports their dreams of higher education"

By guiding and supporting talented and ambitious Chicago youth as they complete college and transition into productive careers, Chicago Scholars is ensuring that our city will remain competitive in the global economy for many years to come.
