Beyond the White Coat: A Health Care Exploration Program
The collaboration between the Chicago Scholars Foundation, the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, and Advocate Health Care, is a local effort working to transform student engagement and education in order to develop the new health professional of the 21st Century. Students will attend a series of exposure workshops regarding the variegated career paths within the healthcare industry. BWC has the following objectives:
- Developing a curriculum of workshops that are industry connected, advanced in content, and regionally linked;
- Provide introductory industry insight for students so they can consider opportunities and challenges that model the reality of the health industry workplace;
- Connect education, industry and community to promote mutually beneficial partnerships that support career development, lifelong learning and regional growth;
- Attract and advance a diverse population of university students who can effectively meet the challenges of our health care needs and regional economic growth.
